REVEAL: #ThunderPets photo contest winners

May 7th, 2018

Every year our charitable #ThunderPets campaign benefiting Emancipet gets bigger and better, and 2018 was no exception. The groovy tie-dye bandanas were such a huge hit that we ended up doubling our order halfway through the campaign.

NOTE: If you still haven’t made a $5 donation to Emancipet to get a #ThunderPets bandana at your local ThunderCloud Subs for your pooch or kitty, it’s not too late! You can still help pets in need and get a psychedelic pet bandana at ANY of ThunderCloud’s 31 Central Texas stores while supplies last. But hurry because this final limited edition batch won’t last long!

The photo contest has come to an end, however, so  if you still haven’t picked up your ThunderPets bandana then unfortunately you missed the chance to win neat prizes. The silver lining? You can still give your pet his or her 10 minutes of fame by sharing the photos online with us using the hashtag #ThunderPets, and we’ll add them to our ongoing Facebook album here.

We had a record number of photo contest entries this year, and it was almost impawsible for our expert panel of judges to come to a final decision.

That being said, without further ado, here are our 2018 #ThunderPets photo contest winners….

“Best in Show: Large Pet”−  Sherlock

Sherlock is a tri-colored Aussie mix that was adopted by owner Lisa Little two years ago. Sherlock’s favorite ThunderCloud sandwich is the Meatball Sub!

“Best in Show: Small Pet”−  Shadow

Born in France on April 1st, this 5-year-old pooch is now living it up in the beautiful city of Austin, Texas with is owner Emmanuelle Saint-Aubin. Follow Shadow on Instagram at @grumpyshushu.

“Dynamic Duo”−  Molly and Ruby

We had so many amazing photos with two pets in them that we decided to make this a photo contest award category this year. A big congratulations to Molly and Ruby, owned by Cassie Pusey, for taking home the first-ever “Dynamic Duo” ThunderPets award.

“Feline Groovy”− Teej

Teej is one of two photogenic cats owned by Kelly Grace who resides in Round Rock. Teej melted our hearts and was a shoe-in for our “Feline Groovy” category which recognizes the best cat photo.

“Most Dif-fur-ent”− Ellie

This adorable 3-year-old American Eskimo/Dachshund mix lives in San Marcos with her owner Kelcey Sartin. She’s a “lover of licks” and “river otter at heart,” and Kelcey adopted her in June 2015. Follow Ellie on Instagram at @ellie_the_eskie.

“On Cloud Nine”− Quill

The “On Cloud Nine” category is reserved for the happiest looking pet, and Quill stole the show with that big tongue hanging out the side of his mouth and happy-go-lucky expression. Quill is a 1-year-old Golden Retriever that lives with his proud, affectionate owner Meredith Cohen. Follow Quill’s latest adventures on her Instagram account at @quillthepup.
