Caritas of Austin believes that when every person has a stable place to call home, they can reach their full potential and contribute to our community. We build well being by making sure that people have a safe home, access to healthy groceries, jobs that provide a reliable living wage, and educational opportunities to learn life skills. Our innovative, personalized and proven approach to building well being and ending homelessness creates a more vibrant Austin for everyone.

Caritas’ mission is to prevent and end homelessness for people in Greater Austin.

Each person Caritas serves shares the devastating experience of homelessness. Some people have lived on the streets of Austin for years, while others are more hidden, living in their car or other temporary shelter. Refugees are internationally homeless – literally running for their lives when they are abruptly forced to flee their home. With everyone, our work begins with homelessness, but we ensure that homelessness does not define people’s futures.

Last year, with community support, Caritas of Austin:

  • Provided 526 households with housing services
  • Placed 147 people in jobs
  • Served 58,351 healthy lunches
  • Provided education classes and job training for 179 people
  • Served 111 veteran families
  • Provided 20,295 meals from the Caritas Pantry
