ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot to partner
with Creative Action for this year’s Art Contest

AUSTIN—For this year’s ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot, the competition to design the artwork for the T-shirt and other promotional materials will be administered by Creative Action.

ThunderCloud is partnering with Creative Action to facilitate the art contest, working with students in four Austin schools. As part of the partnership, ThunderCloud has donated $10,000 to Creative Action, which will be used in part to provide stipends to the program’s teachers.

This year will be the 34th anniversary of the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot, which has now raised more than $5 million for Caritas of Austin since it began in 1991. Since 2010, ThunderCloud has held a competition to create the event artwork, which appears on more than 20,000 of the run T-shirts plus all of the many other event materials.

All of the students in the four selected schools will benefit from participating in a curriculum exploring the theme of helping their neighbors, engaging up to 100 3rd through 8 th graders enrolled in four of Creative Action’s partner program sites. The
ultimate winner will receive certificates good for a year’s worth of ThunderCloud Subs.

“We see this partnership as another way to support the community and make the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot even more meaningful for everyone involved,” says Trot executive director and ThunderCloud co-owner Mike Haggerty.

Creative Action is a nonprofit organization that provides community-based arts and youth development to more than 15,000 Central Texas youth, families, and community members each year. Creative Action uses the arts as a medium to
inspire creativity and equip students of all ages with the confidence, courage, and critical thinking skills to make a positive change
