Veteran announcer Robert “Evil” Evilsizer is the voice of the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot

November 7th, 2016

Robert “Evil” Evilsizer has been the unmistakable voice of the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot since Austin’s Thanksgiving Day tradition began in 1991. Every year, veteran announcer “Evil” informs, entertains, and motivates the 20,000-plus runners at the Trot with his dynamic voice and humor.

Evil’s daughter, Cynthia “Evil Queen” Evilsizer Croft, has been announcing the Stepping Stone Kid’s K and finish line at the Trot with him for more than 10 years. Evil says: “It’s a family tradition! It takes about 30- 40 minutes for the last runner and walker to cross the starting line, and there’s just no way I can maneuver through 20,000-plus people to get over to the finish line in time.”

From the starting line to his post-run messages, Evil gives his announcements some fun, humorous twists. Many longtime Trotters look forward to hearing his voice send them off at the starting line every year.

Beyond the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot, Evil has been a part of the fabric of the Austin community for decades. From his early days with his “Surf Band” in Southern California, through work with Armed Forces Radio and Television while serving in the U.S. Air Force, to his work with the Livestrong Foundation and Willie Nelson’s Farm Aid, his remarkable career has spanned more than 50 years.

So if you see Evil walking around the Trot grounds before or after his announcements, be sure to give him a big wave and “thank you” from all of us at the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot!
