Fresh, Fast & Healthy.

Make the great outdoors even greater with ThunderCloud

June 15th, 2016

This summer, we’re encouraging everyone to get outdoors, breathe in the fresh air, and unplug from your devices. Our wonderful city of Austin offers residents and visitors alike an array of outdoor activities including community gardens, natural springs, urban parks, greenbelts, golf courses and other athletic facilities, swimming pools, and miles of hiking and biking trails. And, you can make any outdoor adventure even better with a ThunderCloud sub. When your stomach starts to grumble and you’re having too much fun to leave for lunch, you’ll thank us! Visit one of our 31 conveniently-located Central Texas stores to get a fresh, fast, and healthy lunch before you head out to spend time in Mother Nature.

Here are just a few ideas of outdoor activities that ThunderCloud pairs well with….

HIKE! Austin trails come in all varieties. Some are paved and easy, while others are much more rugged and challenging. If you’re feeling stressed out, anxious, or just need to burn off some energy, this is what you need to be doing.

Hike

FETCH! Austin consistently ranks as one of the most dog-friendly cities in the nation. Enjoy an afternoon playing fetch with Fido at one of the city’s many off-leash dog parks like Turkey Creek, Walnut Metropolitan Park, Shoal Creek Greenbelt, or Red Bud Isle, to name a few.

ROAD TRIP! While this isn’t technically an “outdoor activity,” going on a road trip is an excellent way to experience the beauty of Central Texas. Drive through the rolling hills and canyons of Wimberley. Go on a wine tour in Fredericksburg. Head to a nearby state park. The possibilities are endless, and (in the words of Robert Earl Keen) the road goes on forever…

SPLASH! Get completely drenched with water instead of sweat at one of Austin’s many gorgeous swimming holes, springs, lakes, splash pads, pools, or waterparks. A few of our favorites include Barton Springs, Lady Bird Lake, Deep Eddy Pool, Hippie Hollow, and the Liz Carpenter Fountain at Butler Park.

SLAM DUNK! Even if basketball isn’t your thing, Austin has a place to play pretty much any sport you can think of. Tennis? Check. Frisbee golf? Check. Volleyball? Check. Baseball, soccer, and football? Triple check. Call up some friends to organize a game, order box lunches from ThunderCloud for half time, and go play!
