ThunderCloud Subs was the first sub sandwich shop in Austin when we opened on Lavaca St. in 1975, and there were plenty of Austinites who didn’t know what a sub was. Today we have 30 stores, and while each one has its own personality, the food is consistently fresh, fast, and healthy, just like it was 40 years ago. It’s true that everything was a little simpler back in the day–we’ve gone from 6 subs in 1975 to 27 today. Our anniversary specials are all original, classic favorites that have remained popular all of these years.
There was something magical about 1975 in Austin. The same year that ThunderCloud started, so did Austin City Limits, Antone’s, and the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar. Happy 40th to all of us, and thanks to all of our loyal customers for being part of ThunderCloud.
