Thank You Austin for Supporting the Turkey Trot for 25 Years!
December 7th, 2015
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot and helped us celebrate the 25th anniversary of Austin’s favorite Thanksgiving tradition benefiting Caritas of Austin. We had another wonderful turnout, with Austinites and visitors showing up in flocks despite some drizzle and showers. In fact, the crowds fully embraced the rain—puddle jumping, ponchos, and all. The Trot truly does bring out the best in people. We’ve rounded up a few photos for your post-Trot viewing pleasure, and you can check out even more great pics on the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot Facebook page. We hope you enjoy!
Costumes this year didn’t disappoint. We saw everything from milk cartons and Where’s Waldo, to turkey jockeys and slices of pie.
The Stepping Stone Kids’ K kicked off the morning events with a gobble.
In a Trot first, this Conan O’Brien look-a-like and his son fried up bacon and made Bloody Marys for runners along the course.
700-plus volunteers make it happen every year.
ThunderCloud’s co-founder John Meddaugh and co-owner Patty Sughrue ran the water stop at 12th and Lavaca as they have for most of the 25 years of the Trot, handing water to thirsty runners with the help of some of their dedicated employees and managers.
The morning showers provided a refreshing cool-off for runners.
Awww, look at this cute turkey!
All in all, it was a fantastic Thanksgiving Day!
