Pipo throws out first pitch at Astros game

August 24th, 2017

Jose Nicolas Hernandez, AKA Pipo, ThunderCloud’s operations manager for more than three decades, was chosen to throw out the first pitch at the Houston Astros baseball game on August 16. The honor was bestowed on him by Frito Lay because of ThunderCloud’s long standing relationship with them as a vendor and Pipo’s helpful nature.

Before the big day, Pipo had a practice throwing session with several members of the ThunderCloud family including Mike Haggerty, co-owner; David Cohen, director of development; and Mark Dollinger, company manager. They affectionately dubbed him “El Asteroid”— talk about a home run of a nickname!

Pipo, Mark, and David traveled to Houston together for the game and were invited on the field with the players during batting practice before Pipo’s big moment in the spotlight. He made a very respectable pitch, and afterwards they enjoyed the game from the Frito Lay suite.
