• Bike Parking: Biking is encouraged. Mellow Johnny's is providing a large, secure bike corral. You don't have to bring your lock. Located on the NW corner of Riverside Dr. and 1st St. by the bridge.

• Proceeds: All of the race proceeds benefit Caritas of Austin. Last year's Turkey Trot raised over $260,000 and over the last 21 years the race has raised over $1.5 million for Caritas

Awards will be given to the overall male, overall female, masters male, masters female, grand masters male, grand masters male and the top 3 men and women in each of the following age groups: age 10 and under, age 11-12, age 13-14, Age 15-16, Age 17-19, Age 20-24, Age 25-29, Age 30-34, Age 35-39, Age 40-44. Age 45-49, Age 50-54, Age 55-59, Age 60-64, Age 65-69, Age 70-74, Age 75-79, Age 80-84 and Age 85+.

We will also have awards for the 1st place corporate team and the top 3 finishers in the following categories: Maternity, Baby Jogger, Wheelchair, Longhorn and Aggie.

*Winners will be announced and awarded beginning at 10:40 a.m., Thanksgiving Morning at the packet pick-up tent.

• Why isn't the kids T-shirt long sleeved?

We have found that most kids prefer short sleeved shirts.

• Raffle Tickets:

The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot Raffle is back! The grand prize is a 2013 Honda Accord donated by Howdy Honda. Mellow Johnny's is donating two $1,250 prize packages good for bikes, gear, clothing and/or accessories. 100% of the ticket price goes directly to Caritas of Austin.

*Tickets prices are $25 each and can be purchased during race recistration. (You need not register in order to purchase raffle tickets.)
*Your chances of winning are deturmined by the number of tickets sold.
*Purchase as many tickets as you like.
*Need not be present or registered for the Turkey Trot to win.
*Winners will be announced on Wednesday, November 28, 2012.

• Where is The Long Center located?

The Long Center is conveniently located at 701 W. Riverside Drive, Austin, TX 78704 across from Auditorium Shores. It is most easily accessed from I-35 from the North or South. MAP

• Are dogs and strollers permitted?

Yes, but we ask that you start in the back to avoid injury to yourself, your child, pet and other participants. Note that we have a separate timed division for Stroller participants!


• Which race do you recommend for me?

Remember, this is a 5-MILE event, not a 5K (3.1 miles). If you're uncomfortable with this distance, then we recommend that you do the 1-Mile Walk/Run. We encourage you to train and race appropriately and accordingly. This year's event will have separate starts for timed, untimed and the 1-mile. We will divide by bib colors. Once in the appropriate area, line up according your pace. Look for the pace signs.

• Can I walk the 5-mile course?

Yes, but the course closes after two hours, the crews will begin picking up the barricades, so walk faster than a 24 minute/mi. pace.


• My child has never done a race. Can he/she participate in the Kid's K safely?

The Stepping Stone School Kid's K starts at 8:45am (prior to the 5 Mile Race). We group kids according to age and send them off in waves so that bigger kids aren't running over the little ones. Most children do run by themselves, but parents are certainly welcome to accompany their children. This event will only take about 5 minutes to complete. Every Kid's K participant receives a finisher's bracelet!

• The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot is the largest five-mile run in Texas

• The ThunderCloud Sub Turkey Trot is a tradition for many Austin area families on Thanksgiving morning who want to do something healthy and helpful. It's a great way to get some fresh air and burn calories before that big meal.

• The Stepping Stone School's Activity Center has projects and games for the kids.
